Who coaches the classes?

Coach Stephanie has been in the fitness industry for over 20 years. She moved to Long Beach 17 years ago from Lompoc where she had attended community college, played intercollegiate tennis, and worked part-time at a local health club teaching group exercise (group X) classes and managing the pro shop. While attending CSULB, Stephanie taught group X classes at numerous health clubs throughout Long Beach/Seal Beach and to CSULB staff. She spent her summers working as a camp counselor for Long Beach Parks & Rec. and teaching swim lessons, privately and for the YMCA. In 1992, Stephanie participated in the student exchange program in Cardiff , Wales , that the Physical Education Department at CSULB offered every spring. After traveling for 6 months, and attending courses, playing on the tennis team, volleyball team, and trampoline team, she returned to CSULB where she received a B.A. in Physical Education in 1993. After graduating, Stephanie taught K-8 physical education classes at a Catholic School in Paramount for three years. During these three years, she continued teaching group X classes and was developing her personal fitness training clientele. While the fitness industry was her true passion, she decided to expand her personal fitness training business/group X teaching full-time. Stephanie is associated with a “well known” fitness referral program that has kept her schedule filled. Even though a personal fitness trainers schedule is determined by the clients, Stephanie completed post-graduate courses at CSULB at night. After working for six years as a group X instructor, fitness instructor/coordinator at the World Trade Center Health Club, an opportunity developed. She was offered the General Manager position where she spent the next six years convincing people it was “the best keep secret” in Long Beach .

Knowing how important exercise is during pregnancy, Stephanie worked out up to the day prior to having her daughter [ Alexandria ] in 2004. After taking a week off, she was back to the workouts. Stephanie wanted to spend more time with Alexandria and continued with personal fitness training and teaching group X classes. In February of 2005, she purchased a Baby Boot Camp Franchise, a stroller-based fitness class that are designed to help moms get fit
(www.babybootcamp.com).

It became hard to find a facility that could accommodate “every” client, so Stephanie knew it was time to open her own. Stephanie became the Head Coach of Cardio Beat in January 2006.

Stephanie feels that a balanced nutrition & exercise program is the key to a long & healthy life. Consistency is the KEY!!!

Stephanie keeps her nationally recognized certification (American Council on Exercise (ACE)) current by attending annual conventions (International Dance & Exercise Association (IDEA) & International Health & Racquet Sports Association(IHRSA)). She has worked with all fitness levels, conditions (diabetics, hypertension, cancer, hip/knee replacements, etc), pre & post-natal, post-rehab, and all ages (2-81).

She is also a member of the Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America (3rd generation).

Her husband Dan is a CSULB graduate with a B.S. in Athletic Training & Kinesiotherapy. Although he is currently in the financial business, he continues to provide rehab & sport specific training consultations.

Qualified, college alumni, and experienced assistant coaches also assist members in achieving their fitness goals.
